Care

🌤️ Light

  • Bright location with plenty of indirect light.
  • A few hours of morning or evening sun promotes flowering.
  • Too little light often results in the plant not blooming.

💧 Watering

  • Only water when the soil has dried out well.
  • Hoyas tolerate short dry periods better than waterlogging.

🌡️ Temperature

  • Optimal temperature is 18–28 °C.
  • In winter, many species like a slightly cooler resting period (15–18 °C), which can promote flowering.

💦 Humidity

  • Normal indoor air is well tolerated.
  • Higher humidity ensures stronger growth and larger flowers.

🌱 Fertilizing

  • During the growing season, every 3–4 weeks with a green or flowering plant fertilizer.
  • Fertilize sparingly or not at all in winter.

Special features

  • Do not cut off flower stems! After flowering, the short flower stems (spurs) remain. New flowers often develop from them year after year.
  • Hoyas often grow slowly at first. However, once they have settled in, the shoots can reach several meters in length.
  • They prefer rather small pots and often bloom better when the roots fill the pot well.
